2020: A year in review

As I wrote in my 2019 year in review post, "Once this is done, I can look forward, with clearer eyes, a lighter heart. I so often feel lighter from observing the heavy pieces one last time before putting them to the side, emptying my hands in order to take up the next year in our life." Sour beginnings

To preface this, I have yet to bake a loaf of sourdough bread with my new starter. I didn't have any commercial yeast, but I did have some unbleached all purpose flour. So last week, I started a wild yeast starter. Gosh, I forget how fascinating it is to home ferment things! Vertices unite shawl, finished

Some projects come along at just the right moment, and this shawl is one of them. After several rather hectic months, I wanted to get back into the rhythm of knitting, but wanted a fun, low-pressure, but still creatively inspiring project. I love knitting socks, but I wanted to knit something with more colorplay and this shawl was just the thing. I so enjoyed going through partial skeins of fingering weight yarn in my stash, mulling over color combinations and trying to figure out how certain colors would look striped together...

Creativity check & finished projects, summer 2019

I thought it was time I wrote about my recent reative pursuits, since I haven't done a "Creativity check" since February! In the interim, I didn't work on as many projects as I usually do, in part because moving and transitioning took precedence.
