We love when friends and family come to visit us here in Austin. Some friends from college were driving through on a road trip and had one full day, the fourth of July, to spend here. We took a fairly laid-back approach to showing them around the city, and looking back, I think it was just about the perfect taste of Austin-in-a-day, for low-key people. (If you want to visit Austin for the nightlife, we're probably not the best tour guides ;)

We started the day with Mount Bonnell and views of the 360 (Pennybacker) bridge, two pretty views in Austin.

Then, we went to lunch at Torchy's on South Congress (because you have to get that view of the capitol from South congress, and you have to have tacos).

After lunch, we went to Zilker park and walked the trail along Lady Bird Lake trail to Barton Springs.

Our sweaty(!) selves swung by Caffé Medici on West Lynn for iced drinks.

Then we headed back for desperately-needed showers. Ninety-six degree weather and walking more than 4 miles makes you so thankful for a shower.

We had dinner in, just something light: salad + chicken + veggies + fruit + pretzels

And then we stopped by Juiceland for smoothies as a night cap before our friends headed back to their hotel.

It was a mixture of sun + chaco tanline-making + catching up the last few years we've been apart + iced coffee beverages + smoothies + tacos + water + pretty views + people watching on the fourth of July = a perfect way to see the city of Austin.

It was a joy to see you, Connor and Jess!
