Atmen shawl, finished

This project is special and a long time coming. I wanted to knit this pattern when it first came out, in May 2017. But the timing was never right, we lived in Texas (rarely shawl weather), didn't have a clear idea of what yarn to use. And then, my brother, while traveling in Iceland, asked me if I wanted some yarn (of course!) and I chose these colors, thinking I could successfully use this sportweight yarn, rather than the specified DK-weight yarn, after a little planning...

December beginnings

Other happy little things in these days of anticipating Christmas:Christmas twinkle lights at our coffee brewing stationcauliflower soup, simmering on the stove (I eat a bowl of it topped with 1/2 an avocado)a fresh haircut(!) First one since October 2019.And fascinated with batteries (don't worry, he was never unsupervised with them ;)marveling at our first snow on the ground, all while having snuggles with breakfast prepCooper wants to be helpful every chance he can. (and honestly, he's surprisingly good at dusting and wiping down his high chair tray, all without prompting). He will push a kitchen chair over to the counter in an effort to try to climb up and help me...

Glimpses of our new home + fall happenings

Our home isn't "finished," but I did want to share where it is at the moment, in progress, still wonderful for us. Still our home that we love. I've felt especially thankful to be here, with Nicholas and Cooper. A place where I spend so much of my day -- preparing food, eating, feeding cooper, cleaning up, etc...

Creativity check, fall 2020

Everything I'm working on requires little thought while I knit, which has been precisely the best type of knitting at the moment. Finished ObjectsI cast them on a few days before we learned of the miscarriage, thinking they would be the perfect moving project. Then after my appointment, I almost set them aside, considering not finishing them. But they ended up being engaging enough of a knit (with colorplay and sizing testing) to be distracting when that was helpful and straightforward enough to be comforting when that was therapeutic...
