The beginning

I have a loosely woven idea of what this space may become—mostly encouragements I'd like to share and my thoughts. These things are more than just ideas, but rather, the grout holding together the more concrete pieces of our lives. I aim to give them more of a presence on this blog.

Ideally, this space will be evidence of several things close to my heart, primarily, my love for Jesus and His daily, sustaining work in my life. My desire is to enjoy this life, while I worship and glorify the Creator of it.

Beyond that, I hope to write about bits of our daily life—from homemaking to enjoying early mornings and emphasizing quality community with those dearest to me.

I greatly enjoy the process of preparing and eating wholesome, nourishing food. My husband and I are embracing a more traditional diet and avoiding processed or refined foods. We’re still fairly new to this way of thinking about food, and we’re continually learning more and more.

I’ll write a post about my thoughts on food soon (there’s so much to be said about it!)

Outside of the kitchen, my heart is very fond of the handmade and the homemade. I place a lot of value in the “slow” process of creating—especially knitting. More than likely, you’ll find lots of handmade goodness here.

A few months ago, I read a post from SouleMama where she used the phrase “Soften into joy.” I’ve had these wonderful reminder words on a banner above my desk for months now. Despite the uncertainty this life may bring, I have hope, and the tools to continually soften into joy.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you. 1 Peter 3.3-4

I hope this can be a place of conversation and encouragement, rather than comparison. Instead of contributing to the media clutter we face daily, may this space grow to be a reprieve from it.
