This weekend, Nicholas and I focused on a few projects around our home. The homemaking process has been rather gradual, but we're getting there. This weekend brought a few additions: a pair of handsome lamps, plus, I sewed new toss pillow covers for the couch (there are two more orange ones to come!) We decided we're a 4-pillows-on-the-couch family ;)
In other weekly news, I got a new library card. Yay! I really, really love libraries. This is one book I brought home this week.^^ It's part-memoir, part-cookbook. She's making me laugh and crave lots of vegetables.
Earlier this week (and to my delight), Nicholas charged me with the mission to "please find some succulents." I found a lovely little succulent greenhouse. I wandered and wandered looking at their extensive selection. Somehow, buying cacti for our home felt very "Texas" to me. :)
I came home with these three. A little greenery added so much life to our space!
Lastly, I've been getting back into my newish (and good!) devotional routine. I'm mulling over this excerpt from Morning and Evening, by C.H. Spurgeon:
But to have Jesus ever near, the heart must be full of him, welling up with his love, even to overrunning. [...] We should pant after love to Christ of a most abiding character, not a love that flames up and then dies out into the darkness of a few embers, but a constant flame, fed by sacred fuel, like the fire upon the alter which never went out. This cannot be accomplished except by faith. Faith must be strong, or love will not be fervent; the root of the flower must be healthy, or we cannot expect the bloom to be sweet. Faith is the lily's root, and love is the lily's bloom. Now, reader, Jesus cannot be in your heart's love except [if] you have a firm hold of him by your heart's faith; and, therefore, pray that you may always trust Christ in order that you may always love him.
I love all of that, but especially this part of it:
"Faith must be strong, or love will not be fervent."
I'll be turning that over in my mind for some time, I think. Have a wonderful week!
