2019: A year in review

Once this is done, I can look forward, with clearer eyes, a lighter heart. I so often feel lighter from observing the heavy pieces one last time before putting them to the side, emptying my hands in order to take up the next year in our life. Knitting: Creatively, the start of the year felt a little slow, since morning sickness derailed any interest in much of anything. The sweetness of now

I get a lot of questions about baby boy's arrival. The basics, of course, like when, followed up by comments along the lines of You're so close! And usually there are comments about Aren't you just ready to be done being pregnant by now? We are incredibly excited to meet our little guy, but I'm not feeling overly anxious to start going into labor, and I'm not feeling anxious about not going into labor. I know every day brings us closer to meeting him, which is so exciting. I told a few close friends the other day, It feels like Christmas! Memorial day & life lately

This past weekend, my parents and brother came to visit for Memorial Day. Before they left, it was a little surreal to say, "Next time I see you, I won't be pregnant!" The reality that we're (at the most) a month(ish) away from meeting Baby DeVries is beginning to set in. It was so wonderful to get to see my family one more time before baby boy's arrival. My family arrived late on Friday night, and my brother, Matt, stayed with us on an air mattress, since our home is still awaiting a couch and more seating, a rug, etc...

Preparations for Baby DeVries

I was just thinking the other day that I haven't shared all that much about what we're doing to prepare for June (our "due month" as one of the midwives I see referred to it as). Apart from preparing for the reality of being a family of three(!) very soon, we're also settling into our new home.
