Two little things

It's just an ordinary Tuesday, of course. But I love two things today:

I finished Mansfield Park! I loved it. Jane Austen's novels are clever and funny. I've read other Austen novels (Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility), but what I enjoyed about Mansfield Park is how she mocks her own genre, especially at the end. It fits perfectly with her writing throughout. And of course, I love words and her use of vocabulary. While I read, I kept a list of words I needed to look up. Some of my favorites from the list:

  • unalloyed
  • incommode
  • eclat
  • remonstrance
  • volubility
  • thither
  • indefatigable

I did use context clues, but if I couldn't use the word in a sentence myself, I added it to the list. Yay for (new) words!

These cute little squash from Trader Joe's. We don't have many seasonal decorations, since we don't have the space to store them and prefer just a hint of seasonal decor. These were just the thing.
